The Shasta County Fire Safe Council was formed in 2002, to serve as a forum for agencies, business and community members for communication and collaboration. The Shasta County Fire Safe Council meets quarterly to share information and ideas on fuel reduction projects, funding opportunities and activities to help, support and educate the Shasta County Communities in wildfire safety. The council’s mission has become a reality this year with the funding and planned implementation of several fuel reduction projects they are involved in, including Rock Creek Shaded Fuel Break, Walker Mine Shaded Fuel Break, Lower Springs Shaded Fuelbreak, Shingletown community Clean Up and Lakehead Fuel Reduction Days. To date the council has grown to over 90 representatives, including landowners, watershed groups, local fire safe councils, interested citizens, agencies business and local, state and federal government.
